Konkan Once Again :)

Reason to Smile: Life isn't meant to be thought of. Its meant to be lived :)

One more fun filled weekend at my favorite destination gets planned and I have packed my bags to grab it. This year its the second time I got a chance to visit the most scenic place in Maharashtra. Konkan it is again ! :)

Saturday morning - a generally lazy day becomes up and running to hit the highways towards Konkan. We decide to cover Dapoli. That is - Suvarnadurg, Kanakdurg, Goa Fort, Fattegad and probably some hot water springs and caves nearby. So with this plan on the mind, the wheels hit the roads early morning and start towards NH 17. Looks like a 4 to 5 hrs drive. On the curves and the bends of the roads post crossing the highways, inside the villages are boards that guide us on the directions to reach the final destination - Harne Beach, Ratnagiri. So all the way through driving, we reach a Tri-juncture where the board reads - Harne left; Mandangad straight and Shriwardhan right. The car takes a break to read the board properly. We go close, read the information, look at each other and BOOM - the entire plan changes within 5 secs in our minds ! We immediately, at the spur of the moment, decide to cover Mandangad Fort, check out Shriwarvardhan Beach, stay there overnight; go to Harihareshwar temple and then cover Dapoli on Sunday! Woow - Now that's what I call Jet Age Hun ;)

So we reached Dapoli as decided only to find out that the ferry service that takes us to Suvarnadurg (which is placed in the middle of the sea) is closed till mid - November ! So we check if there is anyone who can take us to the fort unofficially. But Alas, we couldn't find any.  So we did the other forts and returned to Mumbai.
The journey took us about 6 hrs (not due to the Visarjan) but because our so called chauffer - Mr Manohar Chari drove about half way in his deep sleep with his eyes wide open ! :D

I am now scared of people who have so called 'skills' too :P God literally saved us this time ;)

All in all, A plan so focused that we did not stick to it at all ;)

All Thanks to Merwyn and Manohar who are great travel buddies to have :)

Enjoy the pics on FB and Keep Smiling :)
