Joy of Giving :)

Reason to Smile: As the name suggests The"Joy of Giving" Weekend is all about the idea to celebrate 'Giving' :) It brings together all the people from all walks of life to give their time, money, resources, skills back to the society by creating or participating in events to ensure this festival makes it own mark.
Such events are generally organised by individuals, social groups, schools, colleges, NGOs, corporates, media houses and many others.

I was fortunate enough to get myself associated with one such event organised by Treks and Trails and Offbeat Sahyadris on the weekend of November 14th. It was an adoption of the villages in and around Kumshet near Nasik. I was pleasingly surprised to see the kind of donations that were made from hundreds of people around Mumbai itself. The contributions were in the form of clothes, stationary, toys, food, shoes, lanterns, money, shawls, warmers, utensils, games, and many more things alike. The entire event was a huge success with leaders and volunteers who were passionately involved in the literal sense of "giving" it back to these villagers and shared some very blissful moments with them.
The best part about such gatherings or events is that - It just doesn't project any charity or ownership or doesn't take any credit of it. It is in fact designed as a festival of giving just as we celebrate any other festival like Diwali or Dussera.

They not only took care of the donations - whether be it money, clothes, stationary, lanterns that were gifted to the villagers, but also ensured that the volunteers work as a team and that their motivation is not lost. They arranged for transport and food too.
We generally keep wondering about participating in such events or do have a sense of giving within us but due to irrelevant excuses, fail to execute them. Its is indeed Kudos to the leaders and thinkers who make sure events like these create its own success stories :)

Some pictures are so insightful and real that it touches our lives in many forms than one. Special Thanks to all the photographers who have left no stone un-turned to capture the reality of the joy we felt in giving :)
My special Thanks to Manan who was kind enough to share this idea with me and I was immediately up for it. I surely could not have thought for a better way of 'being human' :) Am sure it has inspired all of us in a millions ways than one.
Cheers to each one of us who made it and celebrated it ! May there be light forever to all the darkness entailed in life ! :)
Keep Giving, Keep Smiling :)
