But anyways whats the harm in taking that shot ! So here's the assignment I wrote an article on.
The topic was - Why should marathoners run for a cause? and Here's my answer :)
"How often does one ponder
or deeply think about the word ‘RUN’?!?! We don’t realize how this word has
been associated with us and how we blindly follow the term. Infact not just
follow, we imbibe it per se on a daily basis! Take this – we run to take that
morning 8.15 local, we do all the running around to keep our kids happy, we run
to drop them to school, the kids run to college, the job seekers are struggling
the run the rat race to make a mark, the run behind money, the run behind to
keep ourselves fit, the run behind our bosses to get to that promotion, the run
behind those endless matters that we hardly know has something in it for us,
etc, etc. Right?!?!
We are all virtually
running every minute of our lives not really knowing how far it is going to
lead us and where! But there is something in the ‘run’ that we look for.
Happiness, pleasure, fitness, fun and what not. Now let’s consider the real
runners. The runners that have ailing knees, the runners that wake up to
wearing those shoes, the runners that breathe the fresh air & embrace
nature. Why do they run? Most of them I
have interacted with have personal reasons. Some are running for weight loss,
some for a ME time, some for good health, some do it to be an example of an
active lifestyle, some just show off, and some just to spend quality time with
friends and family, so on so forth. While I asked some of them if they are
happy just with this, most said yes whereas the others said if there is
anything beyond this, they would be glad to contribute! Why? – The remark was – Why not?!?!
If you know that you are
running for a cause that can make someone’s living more meaningful, wouldn’t
all your energies that you drive to make that run possible, become more
meaningful too?!?! More than the cause it is the effect that has a cascading
impact. When you know that your energy you shed, the knees that pain, the sweat
you just swallowed, the shoes that just got ripped, will sponsor someone’s
education, or feed some street children for a day, or buy unlimited meals for
the undernourished, or have someone get an expensive surgery done, what else
can make your RUN feel utmost satisfying and more cherishing! Infact running
for a cause can only be that extra incentive or a motivation to not only make
that healthy decision of having the weight loss get you look gorgeous, but can
also bring the edge to having a purpose for every ‘act of running’ that you
take up anywhere!"
I am now waiting for their feedback.
Meanwhile I leave the dais open to the readers here. Do let me know if there is anything I could do better to make it more beautiful :)
Your comments, suggestions, and all the critical feedback are most welcome :)
Keep Reading, Keep Smiling :)
Well written, always like the idea of doing something for a personal gain, don't we. But giving it perspective in such a manner is wonderful, somehow being selfish makes it a little selfless, the thoughts were well gathered
