Dahanu Trip :)


Reason to Smile: Who knew that one phone call from a distant close friend ( who stays 400 kms away) would make a plan so spontaneous and adventurous :P Thats me and thats my friends always ;)

So while the weekend I did not make any plans to surprise Mom with Lunch at Sofitel, it was quite natural that post the lunch with family, I ran away to Dahanu to catch up with my friends :)

They had just started from Baroda and called me on their way if I could directly see them at Dahanu. With no plans already fixed, could I ever say a No to something so exciting :P So I rushed up to pack my bags and Anirban asked me if I could join him for a movie. I instead asked him if he wants to join me to Dahanu :P Within no time we both were ready with the bags :P I reached Chembur  to check if buses to Dahanu is a possibility. Trains are easiest but we did not want to take a chance since there was a mega block going on for Saturday tracks maintenance. Last option - just hop on to any volvo bus from Borivali that goes to Ahemdabad and can drop us at Dahanu highway. It was already 7.30 PM and we had no clue what is it that we might land up doing. Anirban and I started checking on the buses, trains, cabs, whatsoever we could hop on at Borivali Station. But to our dismay, nothing was available till Mid-night!
All this running around, being tensed, hurry up attitude, calls, messages to everyone who could help us; was probably very attractive to one guy who patiently saw us in a mess for an hour.  Just when we almost gave up, expressing "no option" look to each other, heads down begun to move back; very gently he comes to us and asks "Kahan jana hai? Dahanu? Yeh dekho saamne ek gaadi khadi usmein baith jaao. Rs. 1000 lagenge but 1.5 ghante mein aap pahunch jaaoge!" It was not the money that made us cry in hue; it was just the tears of happiness we both felt when he came to us like an angel and gave us that lift for one thousand bucks ! We just didn't hold his legs or else we almost fell to his feet for that lift to Dahanu :P

10.30 PM we reached the highway and Shailendra & Anish came to pick us up ! 25 kms of green pavement drive further inside was Dahanu beach and bang opposite was our hotel. The crazy crabs that it was called had all of us crazy people resting at their nest :P  The resort is pretty nice with long lawns for parking and Swimming pool ;) Some really cool pics on the beach, rest in the resort, super energetic swim in the pool, and we headed back to Mumbai. The return journey on Sunday from Dahanu to Dadar was just Rs. 30! (We had to hide our faces behind that ticket :P)

A totally tired body that I was trying to push to sleep that I am invited for yet another sumptous dinner at British Brewing Company at Lower Parel :P

In the avalanche of a monotonous life one routines, such an adventurous fun filled joy ride is always a warm welcome ! :)

Honnavar :)

Reason to Smile: The lush green views, the rice and wheat plantations, the foggy mountains, the wet silver curvy roads and we 3 girls on a road trip. It all begins with this thought and check where we land up :) Honnavar - One small city in Karnataka, very close to Kumta, Gokarna, Murudeshwara Temple and many more such popular places. We headed straight to Madhu's native where her uncle lived. Her Mamaji, as we all affectionately called him, greeted us and was very strict about maintaining the schedule of our trip, for he was our official guide to take us to umpteen places around for sight seeing. Kugaon Fort + Palasdeo Temple :)

Reason to Smile: The movie made its roar in the Marathi film industry with all new faces as very sensitive and challenging characters as their debut. I have only heard about the movie and its feel shot at the backdrop of scenic adventure beautified by Kugav Fort near Solapur. I had seen them too in some of their promos on TV. While it looked exuberantly vibrant and beautiful, it was time to see whether it gives the same impact in real lights too ;) So without a doubt, there are number of nature lovers like me who had the same thought running on their minds. Ironically the place becomes just more popular only because its got highlighted in some movie. Or else Kugaon Fort was always there - just that it got visible to the public eye after 56 years of its existence !! Because all this while it was submerged under the crystal clear waters of River Bhima of Kugaon Village. It has significantly no traces of its charm on the web. So, it was surely not google this time to locate the place....
