School Re-Union :)
Reason to Smile: It was the 1st of April when a school friend pinged me on whats app asking to meet up because a reunion was arranged. For sure, I thought it was some prank. I was extremely apprehensive because - one, it was arranged on the April fools day and two, it had been 20 years I never met some of them after we passed out school !
I wasn't sure how things would turn out after meeting some of those with whom we shared our lunch boxes, last benches, and our very own "outside the class" punishments :P After all it was twenty years gone by. All of them I heard had gotten married, had families to look after, were occupied with jobs or businesses, etc. To think of it wondrously, I was just not able to even imagine if some of us would even recognize each other? Recollect what all we did in school as friends or best friends? How would we even start talking after so long? Everyone would have their stories. Would they remember about anything from school? I kept wondering and then just thought it should be given a shot :)
My first apprehensive step to the place, a tiny look with those searching eyes as the door opens, slightly turning my head to the table with some familiar voices and I hear a ROAR ! A huge welcome from all my batch mates gave me a sigh of relief and of-course a very big smile :)
Kajal, Falguni, Nirav, Vikram, Dipen, Yatin, Leena, Rinku, Vachini, Jignesh, Prashant, Viral, and Me made the loudest of the noises and cracked the silliest of the jokes the same way we did at school ! Unbelievably fast that everyone had become, I was so glad to know that all of us started from where we left. No one had any apprehensions, nobody seemed to meet with an awkward gesture. We all greeted and hugged each other as if we had become teenagers again ;) After a while am sure all of us thought we were just back to school :P Literally - Nothing had changed ! Back then probably we looked a bit younger but this day, we behaved like toddlers ! We laughed our guts out, hogged to those delicious servings, argued on baseless topics, teased those 'couples' the same way no matter what their situation was today :P, clicked a lot of selfies and giggled on silences too ! ;)
And then while we were just getting done with all this, the real fun was yet to arrive ! We all decided to head to Worli Sea Face after dinner and ice cream ! Yes, 12 am and the buddies decide to make it super memorable by taking a ride to the sea face. To my astonishment, most of them agreed ! (And I thought only singles like me bump into such crazy plans :P )
So while we reached there at around 12.45 am we played Cutting the cake (yes, no jokes) and Dumb she-rads and like HOW ! We almost got someone's trouser torn, a few fell while running, made Rinku run a marathon circle with those high heels, and asked those boys (totally shy ones) to act on the weirdest of the movie titles :P, AND heard voices of the ones who did not even utter a word at school :P Had we not been 'game' to this, we would not have literally re-lived our school recess/ playground days ;) My special Thanks to all those who made it to the event - You guys made it LARGE ;) Literally !! :D
Some pics of my school fellas on FB :P
Till my next apprehensive adventure, Keep Smiling :)
