Tambdi Surla Waterfalls :)

Reason to Smile: One of the reasons I think why people really love the monsoons could be the minutest idea of just soaking yourself from head to toe beneath the waterfall :)

And so Travel Trikon brings to you the very giant, the very beautiful and as magnificently magnanimous as the Dudhsagar Waterfalls, the all new and untouched Tambdi Surla Waterfalls !! :) I say that purposely because of two strong reasons - one that TS is located right next to DS and two being huge enough that it is easily comparable to DS. So while its a clear TS:DS fight, we give full marks to both for being so huge and splendid that one can only get awestruck by its jaw dropping impact on the mere sight of the falls from a distance. While DS has taken its charge on being quite popular, TS remains virgin as there are very few locals who would be aware of this beauty. This is also because while DS is a place only to be ideally spotted and seen through the railway line; TS is quite a 2 hour trek from Kulem Village. While DS is completely a 12 kms walk from either Kulem or Castle Rock Stations on the railway track; TS is a dense forest trek where not only you are climbing the rock laiden muddy patches but also the leeches are climbing all over you in abundance biting you all over without having any pinch or pain whatsoever! :P

So the story goes like this -

We all 22 Trikoners meet at Pune station to board the Goa Express on Saturday evening. Some known and unknown faces and within no time we are all playing the infamous game Mafia on our train journey to Kulem. The arrival was meant to be at 4.30 AM but we managed to drag the train with all its delay till 6.00 AM ;) :P  While most of the team aligned at Dudhsagar, 5 of us - Me, Garima, Paresh, Monalisa, and Richa headed straight to the Guest House at Kulem and got ready to begin the trek towards Tambdi Surla Waterfalls !

Into the jungle we go, cross several river streams, stroll, climb, pose for pictures, manage being alert on those leech attacks, but finally just become awestruck, still and motionless when we spot the falls ! The aura of just merely the view of it makes us completely go speechless and awed by its beauty :)
While Mona, Richa had not seen DS; on reaching the falls, I was asked by Mona "Neha, Should we call TS the son of DS? I said, "Na. This one is easily comparable to DS. More or less the same" So she immediately remarked "OK, so then I would call it the younger brother" :P For sure yes :)
Its as spotless and white as the milky ocean as they rightly name it to its elder brother DudhSagar ! LOL ;) :D :P

At the base of the Surla Trek, it is also worth visiting the the Mahadev Temple - an ancient site situated in 1920 AD according to the Archaeological survey of India. There was a synchronization of faith that revealed through the presence of Vaishnav deities although the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, thus imparts an unique place in the Goa Kadamba Temple architecture.

One can always take a train back to Madgaon which is a local that starts from Kulem. Its called a Kulem Vasco local that halts at Madgaon to board a train back to Mumbai (LTT Terminus). Its been a crazy weekend with some really mad mates around and some extra ordinary views and memories to my kitty !

I have uploaded some videos and pictures on FB :P Do check them and like, share comment if you have any views / thoughts / feedback about this blog.

Keep travelling. Keep Smiling :)
