Induri -Sangramgad-Vadu-Tulapur Trip :)

Reason to Smile: Its been a while I dint pick up any trek or trip. May be because I wasn't coming across something new or something different ;)
Also, when it comes to treks or trips in summers, its better I prefer the short duration or the one-day ones. I have indeed lost all the stamina and have no endurance zeal left for any treks anymore. While I know that the 'spring' in me will keep jumping for such adventures I now have to relax and seek for something new ;)

While Saturday was a relaxed day, I went for a horror movie for the first time in my life :P The movie 'It follows' is based on a curse that one passes to another and sees an image of a soul in the form of loved ones. The dead soul keeps following you if you are the chosen one :P Indeed horrifying but funny :P Now I only hope that watching a horror movie being a good idea doesn't follow me ;) Surely, the movie was boring and slow.

Sunday was eventful. Shikhar Vedh trip to Induri - Sangaram Durg - Vadu - Tulapur was indeed a marvellous way to spend the weekend. A pvt bus was organised for the trip and in summers that works wonders :P So, while I jumped into the bus early morning 6 am, I was surprised by the fact that there are 2 bikers joining too !! Always an eyebrow raiser smile to me ;) We continued our journey towards Pune. Our first pick as per the schedule was Induri Fort.

Induri Fort is situated in Talegaon-Dabadhe village. The "Induri Fort" was built by Sarsenapati Khanderao Yesajirao Dabhade in 1720-21. The fort also had a mint (Coin) in it. The temple of Goddess Kadjai is also in the fort. Fort has around 9-10 bastions, Entrance door, Rooms with different types of carvings. The Goddess was got in the Sarsenapati Dabhade Family by Ambikabaisaheb (d/o Shitole Family of Patas) after her marriage to Sarsenapati Yashwantrao Dabhade Ist.

We then proceeded to one of the caves at Bhairoba Dongar, very close to Induri Fort - This was not in the itenary :P But then why was it not there? Well Bhairoba Dongar has a temple located at the top and one has to trek down 20 mins to reach the caves ! A sweet descend of 20 mins is always fun no matter what time of the day, but then if you realize that its the same route to move back up with no shortcuts and no shades on the way, then its a jolly good pain in that red hot sun above you ! :P

So while I nicely swayed down to the caves running to catch the first glimpse, it was equally tiring and breath wrenching to climb back up ! :( But what else can give me back all the energy I needed? - Just one Yes from the biker to ride along with him !! ;) And what an icing on the cake if the bike is an Avenger ! ;)

So we vroom to the Next Halt - Sangram Durg. Sangram Durg is situated at Chakan, Pune. It is a land fort. Firangoji Narsala was a renowned Maratha warrior and military leader in the army of Shivaji Maharaj. He is famous for his defence of this fort against a Mughal army led by Shayeste Khan in 1660. Firangoji was a 'Killedar' (garrison commander) of this fort in Chakan (Pune). When Shayeste Khan invaded Pune with a lakh of soldiers, he selected Sangram Durga as the first target. He attacked the fort with 10,000 soldiers. Firangoji Narsala was prepared for this attack, however, even though he had only 200 soldiers. Just before this attack Shivaji had asked his commander to leave the fort. However, Firangoji decided not to abandon the fort and instead started a fierce guerrilla war against the Mughals and defended the fort in this way for almost two months.  Chakan Fort is situated in Chakan on National Highway 50. The last Maratha – British war took place here. The fort is in a ruined state now.

A Lunch break after this and we move to Vadu - Tulapur.
There are samadhis of Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Kavi kalash at both places - Tulapur and Vadhu budruk.

The successor of Maratha Empire Shri Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Great King Shivaji Maharaj, brutally executed and killed by Aurangzeb (Mughar king) due to his fight and bravery against the Mughals and pieces of his body were thrown at the banks of Bhima river. The pieces were collected by the villagers and cremated.

This place is less explored.
This is at the bank of ‘Triveni Sangam’. A place where three rivers named Bhima, Bhama and Indrayani come together and flow forward as one river. At the bank of this river, old Sangameshwar temple is constructed before 16th Century. This is must visit attraction when you visit Tulapur.  As per history, a meeting was held between Rudranath maharaj, Shahaji Mahraj and Murarpant Jagadev at this place and Elephant weighed cleverly to distribute similar amount of Gold to resident. This is called as “Tula” in regional Marathi language and the place named as Tulapur.

So, after a hectic schedule of visiting so many new places, much historical to its nature, we call the day off. The Sangameshwar visit was indeed pleasant and peaceful to end the day with. Back to the bus, my ride couldn't continue till the end. Amol, my biker was from Pune and they all had to head back :P

Some superb pics on FB :) Keep checking, Keep visiting, Keep Smiling :)
