Pelhar Dam & Lake :)
Reason to Smile: Some great men said - There are essentially two things that will make us wiser: the books we read and the people we meet. For me, its probably movies and exploring some unexplored places - even if its around Mumbai !
So I made this weekend eventful by catching up on the long time awaited movie - Byomkesh Bakshi. We know that some movies are entertaining, some are thrillers, some are finely crafted to send a social or a moral message and some are actually boring. I found this movie only 'intelligent'. Though based on dark lines, a murder mystery, nothing new to the audiences, it made a lot of sense to have a backdrop of the early 1940s shot in Calcultta. The film has an intelligent plot and has conveyed the story, pretty much fictitious yet powerful, very brilliantly. Sushant Singh has been my favourite so I thought he pulled off some of the frames very well :)
Infact I write this after missing the first half hour of the movie, all thanks to my dear friend -Bhavik. I usually dont prefer booking tickets online for a movie show, but this time I did and he woke up late not realising that our Indian Railways have a mega block for track maintainance on Sundays while he has travel from Thane to Ghatkopar by train ofcourse. I had no choice but to bring out the girl best in me till he arrives for the show - So I landed up doing some shopping ;) :P
After the movie, while my head felt heavy, it was time Bhavik paid for the penalty :P So I dragged him to Vasai. 9 Kms from Vasai Station, this place is called Pelhar Dam and Lake. The dam and the lake is located at the rear end of the Pelhar Village where one has to pass through the village, some buffalow sheds and hay stacks. The lake is at the dead end of them. Ideally once you reach Pelhar Hotel, there is a 25 mins walk to the dam. Luckily we found an Auto Rickshaw who was trying to drop a girl to the same place. Interestingly, he told us that he has been driving the auto since 2003 in and around Vasai but had not visited this Dam ever ! Apparently he didnt even know that a dam behind such buffalow sheds or hay stacks ever existed ! When he said this to us, Me and Bhavik only had one reaction to this - Kya baat kar rahe ho?!?! For me, it was literally a woow feeling of exploring something 'new' and 'untouched' - which the dam and the lake represented very beautifully, though the dam water had dried up badly :) It has a viewing deck with a Dam water controller - rusted iron machine located there. With, no picnikers around, clean waters with no rubbish thrown in the lake, very beautiful and pristine, this place in the monsoons would also look like a paradise. One could only find some locals there trying to do some fishing :)
A serene place to look forward to, I was awestruck with the peaceful nature it presented and was mesmerised by the calm and unbeatable silence one searches for in our lives :) Indeed something unexpected from a place so close to Mumbai ! :)
Such journeys and visits only brings me back home with a relaxed mind to take on the challenges meant for the week ahead :) Totally rejuvenated, I am ready for work ! ;)
Some pics on FB :) Take a look and Keep Smiling :)
