'Maggie'cal New Year :)

Reason to Smile: As I always say, the year has gone by with a blink of an eye. One more fulfilling year that gave some very crucial lessons to learn from, some reminiscences, a height of treks to catch up on, new places to explore on, some failed attempts to look back on, but also carving a whole new path for a new journey to embark on.

As we all get excited to probably have a party to celebrate new years night, it was Rajjo's idea that we move out of the hustle bustle of the city and go for camping at some nice, out of the league place where all we can see is ourselves romancing with the cold winters that give us a natural sight to our eyes and nothing else. No crowds, no 'social' obligations, no 'power' supply, no media, nothing. Just 'real' connections. Be it personal or nature. or be it naturally personal :)

So after a lot of discussions, trails and tribulations so to speak, we zeroed in on Matheran. Afterall Garbett has always been my top favorite :) And to think of camping there would just be so much exciting. I was only skeptical that since the place is atop and not a lakeside one, it would be difficult to fill the trench of the need of water during the making of some food, and quench our thirsty feelings. Also, while there were 10 so called friends who had agreed to join us, we landed up being the fast and furious four (Keval, Rajjo, Sandy and Me) only for the celebrations. Hence, the person who was suppose to bring an electric stove turned out to be among the ditched ones. While we were stranded with so much food (dinner), one 4 man tent, and some glittery stars above us, we got lucky to have spotted another tent with 4 boys from IIT Powai. They were setting up their camps and making preparations for dinner too ! Why I said lucky is because the wood that they had collected got grabbed by us and we could easily not only make a big bonfire out of it but could also set up our own sweet traditional kitchen!

What next? We were all set to hog on to make Maggie, Manchow soup, tea, coffee and enjoy some light music on our phones, feel the pleasant breeze, with some long and short stories that we shared endlessly till the clock stroke 12 and our Maggie on the boiler too ! It was indeed a 'maggiecal' new year for us ! :)

We sneaked out of our tents at about 6 AM and welcomed the 2017 sunrise checking out those PhD boys dancing to some weird music, a distant view of the lake and an extremely beautiful yellow lit sky that we got glued to with blue shadows, winds blowing, and a great light for selfie clicks ! It was all so poetic !

BTW those boys when we looked carefully at them got recognized as those we had once bumped on to one of the treks from TMI groups ! Small world indeed ! :) We finally caught up and had some hot and cold black tea together ;) Celebrities celebrating it all for the rocking 2017 ! :D

I wish you all a lot more Happy Readings, Happy Travels, and a very Happy New Year !! :D

Keep Smiling :)

  1. On her bday today, A poetry I read written by Savitribhai phule
    'Go, Get Education
    Be self-reliant, be industrious
    Work, gather wisdom and riches,
    All gets lost without knowledge

    We become animal without wisdom,
Sit idle no more, go, get education
End misery of the oppressed and forsaken,
You’ve got a golden chance to learn

So learn and break the chains of caste.
Throw away the Brahman’s scriptures fast.'

Well Neha your adventure beseech the same feeling, and hence it seems you have written something for people to feel further

    Bring in your imagination
Let's begin our journey of wanderlust
Let's head to the happiness filled bushes
    And that birds chipping passage

    Move on, hussle your feet
See yourself in the midst of creation
No more shall we be without experiences
I walk a new path of education

Run, Run, Run, Seek the rising sun
A complete breath beneath it is a blissful one
