Tambdi Surla Waterfalls :)

Image
Reason to Smile: One of the reasons I think why people really love the monsoons could be the minutest idea of just soaking yourself from head to toe beneath the waterfall :) And so Travel Trikon brings to you the very giant, the very beautiful and as magnificently magnanimous as the Dudhsagar Waterfalls, the all new and untouched Tambdi Surla Waterfalls !! :) I say that purposely because of two strong reasons - one that TS is located right next to DS and two being huge enough that it is easily comparable to DS. So while its a clear TS:DS fight, we give full marks to both for being so huge and splendid that one can only get awestruck by its jaw dropping impact on the mere sight of the falls from a distance. While DS has taken its charge on being quite popular, TS remains virgin as there are very few locals who would be aware of this beauty. This is also because while DS is a place only to be ideally spotted and seen through the railway line; TS is quite a 2 hour trek from Kulem Vill...

Matheran :)

Image
Reason to Smile: Movie - the Independence Day Resurgence - much like a science fiction movie that it is, I felt it was long and too many characters only made it fun if a child within you find its exciting to see those weird strategies they try to make to kill the Queen ;) And then.. Imagine a facebook post reading "enjoying at Matheran" feeling wet :P Thats what we heard from some boys who joked about it at Charlotte Lake, Matheran ;) The Rains, The fog, The fog or the foggy rains - it was all just that at Matheran :P Poonam, Me, Richa and Rashmi stepped out on a sunday morning to explore the rains at Matheran. For me it must have been the 18th trip there :p So the official guide that I was to the others, I was also the Lady Big Boss of the gang :P The Sethani as they called me, the rest were named Naukranis :P who were only allowed to follow me - literally :P ;) (They were new to the place) A few of the funniest comments that we must have made and enjoyed during ...

Morachi Chincholi :)

Image
Reason to Smile: Rains, Clouds, Misty weather, Green farms and Tamarind trees - all are a super welcome to the most beautiful bird of all times - Peacocks ! And what if you get to see them in abundance !! The weekend was just filled with the same set of chills :) Madhu, Mona and Me again just decided to pack our bags and leave for our monsoon break over the weekend. What could be better than experiencing the view of dancing peacocks from the nearest distance !! Morachi Chincholi is a place on the Pune- Ahmednagar highway near Shiroor village, about 50 kms from Pune. We hired the cab, got our bags dumped on it and touched the highway within no time on saturday morning :P Mayur Krishi Paryatan Kendra organizes such one day events and overnight stays for monsoons and peacock lovers :) They  arrange activities like star gazing, farm lake boating, trekking at the nearby hilltops, cycling, tractor ride, and many more :) An 18 km drive to Nighoj was also worth it.  Nighoj ...

Purushwadi :)

Image
Reason to Smile: There is so much to see, there is so much to ponder, it is this life that has so much to offer that we only wonder what to wonder ! :) This feeling of umpteen is exactly what I felt at the banks of the River at Purushwadi, a rural village near Sangamner Road, Maharashtra. It is known for its fireflies sanctuary. Special Thanks to Manoj Kalwar from Travel Trikon that he suggested we go to this place if we are planning to check out a new place over the weekend for fireflies; especially when we are totally 'fed up' and want to relax, feel the peace and value sheer serendipity :P So the so called 'fed up' girls - Me, Madhurima and Monalisa just checked (Friday, at about 9 pm) whether we should just pack our bags and move?!?! Without a second thought or a single question asked, and before we even realize what could happen, we had already greeted each other in the second last local to Kasara!! :D I am indeed super blessed with friends like them that suc...

Kugaon Fort + Palasdeo Temple :)

Image
Reason to Smile: The movie made its roar in the Marathi film industry with all new faces as very sensitive and challenging characters as their debut. I have only heard about the movie and its feel shot at the backdrop of scenic adventure beautified by Kugav Fort near Solapur. I had seen them too in some of their promos on TV. While it looked exuberantly vibrant and beautiful, it was time to see whether it gives the same impact in real lights too ;) So without a doubt, there are number of nature lovers like me who had the same thought running on their minds. Ironically the place becomes just more popular only because its got highlighted in some movie. Or else Kugaon Fort was always there - just that it got visible to the public eye after 56 years of its existence !! Because all this while it was submerged under the crystal clear waters of River Bhima of Kugaon Village. It has significantly no traces of its charm on the web. So, it was surely not google this time to locate the place....

Kasol Trip :)

Image
Reason to Smile: The only thought of sitting at the white water river bank with only peace and serenity as your company could give me goose bumps assuming it only happens in Hindi movies !! :P I always wondered if it could be for real. That music plays to your soul, and that you feel equally romantic and just sway away with mere positivism to rely on ! And then I could never imagine it could all happen to me :) The face glows; The memories are re-visited of the times that were good and funny; The smile is just glued to your face; All at once like a slide show of some presentation.. LOLz !! :D You surely wanna know the one beautiful place. This happened to me at Kasol, Himachal Pradesh (Kullu District). I would though give this a second position (after Ladakh) for its immense natural beauty and warmth that the 'cold' weather offers ;) One can only dream about feeling cold and cozy in this hot summers and here was I all by myself feeling the chills at the banks of Parvati V...

Hot Water Springs :)

Image
Reason to Smile: The summers arrived and the water scarcity or the save water emblem has been the talk of the town. It is indeed the water shortage that's killing most of the Mumbaikars in town. While some are already applying tried and tested methods to save water, some are uniquely figuring it out how to consume less of it.  And some weird people like me come across friends who found out where natural hot water springs are available around Mumbai suburbs ! I did not know anything about it at all. Infact I was always under the impression that natural hot water springs are situated only near the Himalayas :P The last one I had checked was at Manikaran, Manali. I must admit, I had not liked the way it was maintained :( But this one is near Virar. Vajreshwari Temple is located about 31kms from Virar Station.  There are around twenty-one  hot water springs  in a five-kilometer radius of the temple. According to tradition, the hot water is the blood of demons and ...
